The Traditional Herbal Medicine
In my country, we do not have any of the alternative medicines we studied in our class activity yesterday such as acupuncture, homeopathy, aromatherapy, osteopathy, chiropractic and hypnotherapy. Herbal medicine is widely used back home and this kind of medicine is made out of leaves, fruits and seeds which can be administered orally (syrup) and also it can be applied over the affected area especially wound (topical cream) and it is always the first of choice of medicine for most people.
Basically no one know the true mechanism and the strength of this medicine because no one study this area, this is the knowledge that passed from our ancestors so there is no scientific evidence.
As a medical professional, I do not really support that people are using this type of medicine because there are some diseases that need to be treated immediately at the hospital level, where there is no proven fact that can be cured by herbal medicine, it can be frustrating and sad at times because in some cases, it can cost the person's life. For example, acute appendicitis need an immediate operative intervention, if this disease is not treated immediately it can cause a painful death.
On the whole, traditional herbal medicine can be dangerous, so it is wise not to depend on it and to seek medical professional's advice first.
I agree. We should get advice from doctor first.
