Favorite historical film (Troy)

There are several versions of the movie "Troy" however, my favourite was the one released in 2004 played by main actors Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom and Diane Kruger. This film is a Greek mythology historical war film at the time of the Trojan war in Greece. Hector (Bana) the prince of Troy led a delegation to establish a memorandum of peace between Sparta and Troy, the same night his young brother Paris (Bloom) had an intimate affair with Helen (Kruger) who was the wife of Menalaus the Spartan King's brother. Helen leaves secretly with the Trojans on the next day back to Troy and this has sparked anger and insult to the Spartan king especially after a treaty between them.
Menalaus wanted his wife back but his brother Agamemnon an ambitious man with the hunger for greed and power used this situation to wage war against the Trojans. He knows the only person to lead them to victory is Achilles (Pitt) the Spartan warrior believed to be immortal and blessed by the Gods. Achilles however, wanted a name for himself down in history agreed to go to war against the Trojans.
My favourite scene was the ferocious sword wielding combat dual between Achilles and Hector. Both warriors are so skilled in this furious combat that makes your heart jump a beat and the heightened feeling of adrenaline rushes in. Obviously there can only be one victor and Achilles made a name for himself in Greek legend history by defeating Hector on that day.
However, the climax of this movie was a mixture of feelings. Achilles and Menalaus died during the war, Paris and Helen escaped and the city of Troy was conquered by the Spartans.

  1. I've seen this film and I was excited from this film, especially by Pitt' playing and the entire Peterson's directing. As for me, the most gripping scene was the beginning of the film where Achilles killed the enormous gay.
