Evan's war movie

I like action movies or any type of movies where there is something dramatic happening. Also, I used to like thrillers because I loved the sensation of fear passing over me when something particularly gruesome happened. My wife saw me as a weirdo but I did get kick out of those movies that gave you goose bumps.  Moreover, I like war movies because I am a big fan of weapons and I usually dream having a lot of guns. I was crazy about that when I was a child. I remember a movie called ‘Enemy at the Gates’ which is set in Russia during the Second World War. A Russian (Vassili played by Jude Law) and a German (Major König played by Ed Harris)  sniper play a game of cat-and-mouse during the Battle of Stalingrad. There are a lot of scenes I will never forget. For example, vassili’s grandfather taught he how to use gun. He said: ‘I am a stone. I do not move. Very slowly, I put snow in my mouth. Then he won't see my breath. I take my time. I let him come closer. I have only one bullet. I aim at his eye. Very gently, my finger presses on the trigger. I do not tremble. I have no fear. I'm a big boy now. Ready Vassili? Now, Vassili, fire!’
If only I had a grandfather like him but also I am gratitude that I wasn’t born that ages.

  1. So, you are dreaming of becoming an excellent sniper when you were young? And that is one reason you move to NZ due to its freedom of having guns? Help me, help me. The more I know about you, the more I want to talk with you.

  2. This was one of my favourite sniper movies. The accuracy and precision of the sniper is just flawless. I think one scene that demonstrates this, and I have to say it still leaves me mesmerised, was when he (Jude Law) intentionally shot a power line and it just snapped. Sometimes I wonder whether that is possible...I mean could you actually aim and shoot a power line at great distance and not miss..??..what are the odds.?..Amazing but again its just a "movie"
