“Dong Loc Three-way crossroads” is based on the real
stories about the the young girls from 17 to 24, who volunteered to a battlefield
in the war against America to save the country of Vietnam in 1968. The
battlefield was in Dong Loc, Ha Tinh, a small province in the middle of Vietnam,
which was one of the key traffic points during the war. Due to its important location, the US
military concentrated a lot of bombers here to cut off the northern people's
supply lines for the southern battlefield. The film recreates the daily lives
of young female soldiers with love, homesickness, and private feelings of each
characters. Daily tasks of young woman volunteers were guarding the key
intersections, finding and destroying bombs and repairing the traffic destroyed
by bombs. Inspite of hard working and life threats everywhere at any time, they
always kept optimism and hope for one day Vietnam would be completely liberated.
As usual, on 26th, July 1968, the young women went to the roads for working. 16h30,
the 15th bombing of the day hit Dong Loc, a bomb landed near the mouth of the
tunnel, where 10 of them were avoiding the bomb. Sand and gravel splashed, all died
at a very young age. This film by director Luu Trong Ninh was first released in
1997. It is well known by most of Vietnamese people because of its historical
significance and emotional appeal.
I don't know about Vietnam war exactly, so I will try to watch it to study the war.

DeleteIt is really a hard period, isn't it? Cherish our peaceful world. War does really bring a lot of harms to people.
