Graduate Exhibition 2019: THE BEST OF WORLDS
Actually, I'm not interested to buildings, but I like it and have interest about it. It was made an Otago uni student, his name is Chunhui Wang. This building is hotel and restaurant, and there is a swim-up pool bar. It sounds fantastic, I think. It was adapted from a paradox idea - Penrose Stair, and the inspiration from the local scenery of the Tunnel Beach. There are less stairs in this building, so if people who walk harder come there, they are able to stay and enjoy this building. In rooftop, there is garden.
Graduate Exhibition 2019: BYPASS
The Project i would like to introduce is PYPASS. It was designed by JOSHUA WEIR.
The building currently is a restaurant. It is renovated by adjoining new structure for restaurant's facilities.
The strongest presence of this project is the laneway, which is becoming a new by pass for foot trafic in the erea. Being located in the Bath street, center of Dunedin, the project is a good example for preserving and renovating old building in the city center.
I suppose that this project is also a good example for Ha Noi, my hometown, which has been dealing with the same proplem in preserving its heart - the old quarter, where people are living and doing business in a very poor condition.
Graduate Exbition 2019" THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS"
Last Wednesday, we saw some models of buildings.
I really impressed that. In this blog, I want to introduce about one model which I like it.
Please look at a below
picture. This model made by one of graduated students, Chuhui Wang. What do you think about
it? It has complex structure. According to explain panel, it is a huge hotel. Additionally,
It is used to restaurant, too. At the restaurant, tourists who stay in hotel
are able to buy agricultures like vegetables, fruits, and more. Those are made
in Dunedin local farm. I think that it is are useful both of tourists and
farmers.
In fact, this project is “THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.”
In this project, “BOTH WORLDS” means tourists and farmers. At the popular
sightseeing areas, there are some problems between them like rubbish problem,
transfer problem, others. So, I think it is really good idea to make good
relationship between them.

I felt “FARM TO TABLE” was impressive. That is designed by Liam Zhiyuan Wang. This building has a greenhouse, ranch, hotel and restaurant. Customers can pick fresh fruits and vegetables from greenhouse. I think it is wonderful that farm animals waste will be energy for house heating and organic fertilizer to fertilize the crops in the greenhouse. That is good for not only customers but also environment.
I also think the form of building is unique. The form is likes piece of cake. It is easy to move from hotel to everyplace, raunch, greenhouse, restaurant.
That will be located near Dunedin Town Hall. From this building, it is easy to go many place.
In this building, we can enjoy nature even though we are in Town.

Favourite project
The project that I feel interested in is " Farm to table" by the designer Liam Zhiyuan Wang. As you could imagine from below pictures, the idea of the project is to build an ecological hotel which consists of accommodation, a greenhouse, a ranch and a restaurant. Personally, I think the most impressive part of this building is self-contained chains, Which means not only could customers enjoy comfortable rooms and restaurants like in any other hotels but they could serve themselves with fresh fruit and vegetable picked from the greenhouse inside the hotel campus. Besides, customers might find it fascinating when watching some kinds of animal in the ranch of the hotel because normally they are only seen on the farms.
In fact, this kind of business is not very rare these days. However, the attractive point of this project is that it would be built in the centre of Dunedin city. It would be located in the corner between York PI street and Filleul street, just several hundred meters from Octagon.

This building is an apartment. Though it looks quite normal and plain, I like its simplicity and the feeling of livable and comfortable.
It is the type of economical building for residence, I mean it will offer a relatively lower housing price by compact design. It has saved land-using to a large extent, it is energy-saving design as well. For example, the "U" shape design can resolve the lighting problem very well, it will also keep the space between the two buildings as a shelter, so people can enjoy BBQ or afternoon tea here without worry about the wind.

The project I chose is No.13, a public Aquarium entitled as Whenua
me te Wai: Land and Water. I like its simple design, which allowed me to sketch
easily. Besides, I found the idea of making aquarium nice to revitalise the
water front.
